Rice Starch Production Process

This method provides a simple and efficient method for obtaining high-quality rice protein and starch, which is suitable for large-scale industrial production.

  1. Soaking: Rice grains are soaked in an alkaline ion-type solution for a period of 4 to 40 hours. This soaking process prepares the rice grains for further extraction.
  2. Grinding and Soaking: The soaked rice grains are finely ground, and the resulting rice slurry is subjected to further soaking at a temperature range of 20 to 90℃ for 2 to 20 hours. This step facilitates the release of rice protein from the grains.
  3. Separation: After the soaking process is complete, the rice slurry is separated using a centrifugal separator. During this step, rice starch is directed to the next stage of starch production, while rice protein is retained for further processing.
  4. Acid Precipitation: The separated rice protein solution is adjusted to a specific pH value using an acid ion-type coagulant. This adjustment causes the rice protein to precipitate, separating it from the solution.
  5. Washing: The precipitated rice protein is thoroughly washed with clean water to remove any impurities.
  6. Homogenization: The washed rice protein is subjected to homogenization using a high-pressure homogenizer. This process ensures the consistency and quality of the extracted rice protein.
  7. Drying: Finally, the homogenized rice protein is spray-dried to obtain rice protein powder with a protein content of at least 70% and moisture content ranging from 5% to 15%.

Preparation of Rice Starch:

The second part of the process focuses on the preparation of rice starch, which involves the following steps:

  1. Washing: The rice starch separated during Step 3 of the rice protein extraction process is washed using a cyclone to obtain refined rice starch milk.
  2. Drying: The refined rice starch milk is then subjected to air drying, resulting in the production of high-quality rice starch. The rice starch obtained through this method contains less than 1.0% of rice protein.
